From Mayor to Citizens of Toyokawa
“The State of Emergency” was lifted on June 20 in Aichi prefecture, and the
prefecture goes on to “Priority Measures to Prevent Infectious Spread” (Semi-
State of Emergency). Aichi prefecture also define 14 municipalities as eligible
area for “Priority Measures to Prevent Infectious Spread”. The latest total number
of the new infected per 100,000 persons in population for 1 week has been
calculated and these 14 municipalities are equivalent to the definition of Stage 3.
Toyokawa city is not part of afore-mentioned area and has seen the tendency of
decreasing number of the new infected. However, the number of hospitalized
persons in beds specified for the COVID-19 infected is still high. In addition, a
cluster infection (Infected group of people) occurred at an assembly hall in the city
and the situation has been away from relieving. Under these circumstances, I
would like to ask citizens for further effort of basic preventive measures to
prevent further infectious spread. Besides, various preventive measures such as
partial limitation of using public facilities, refraining from holding events etc. will
be continuously implemented. Meanwhile, about vaccination which is expected to
end the pandemic, the service for medical staff has already completed thanks to
the devotion of relevant organizations such as Toyokawa City Medical Association
and more than 78 % of senior citizens aged over 65 has made reservations for
vaccination with smooth process. Currently, vaccination percentage for persons
who have received coupons is about 50 %, and Group Vaccination starts on June
23 following Individual Vaccination. In addition, priority vaccination for persons
under 64 years old with underlying disease etc. and vaccination for persons in
general are planned sequentially. To regain healthy daily life without delay,
management scheme of large-scale vaccination venue is to be determined, and
vaccination schedule is carried out surely and rapidly.
Lastly, to save the life and the livelihood of the citizens, all city staffs are working
in close teamwork with all strength for countermeasures against infectious
disease. For that purpose, every citizen’s cooperation is essential. Your
continuous understanding and cooperation are asked earnestly.
