A message from Mayor of Toyokawa City, after the declaration of a State of Emergency
緊急事態宣言の発出を受けた市長メッセージ
Japan Government declared a State of Emergency to 7 prefectures additionally on January 13.
Presently, Aichi Prefecture is facing severe situation of rapid COVID-19 spreading.
Toyokawa City is not an exception, the cases confirmed in January (1st ? 13th) was 59 which
is excess of the December (the month of record high) cases of 108 and continue to expand.
Our mission is to contain the infectious spreading, to prevent from collapse of the medical
care system and to save our lives. In order to realize the mission, limiting dine with people
and controlling people’s contact as much as possible. Therefore, basic prevention method of
spreading infectious like washing hands, coughing etiquette etc., “3Cs” (Closed spaces with
poor ventilation, Crowded places with many people nearby and Close-contact settings such
as close-range conversations) and “5 situations” (Social gatherings with drinking alcohol,
Long feasts in large groups, Conversation without a mask, Living together in a small limited
space and Switching locations) are required to follow by the citizen.
Moreover, going outside should be restrained voluntarily if not related to necessity of daily
life. Especially, going outside after 8:00pm should be restrained voluntarily and radically.
After the declaration of a State of Emergency, Toyokawa City has cancelled, postponed, limit
the participants to 50 % of venue’s capacity and limit the use of the facilities until 8:00pm
max. of events or lecture organized by the city as a prevention measure.
I fully appreciate your understanding and cooperation toward prevention of COVID-19 and
collapse of the medical care system.
The most important thing is that each one of us share and act under this severe situation as
individual matter not someone else’s.
Let’s overcome this COVID-19 crisis together as ALL TOYOKAWA.
